Second Eyelid

Close your eyes.

You don't see absolute dark, do you?
A pure dusk is hard to find.

We still see flickers here and there,
reminders of the world
just beyond our eyelid.

You've closed your eyelids, good.
Now close your second pair.

I warn you –
It may seem difficult at first.

It never is too complicated though.

You can always find them,
in the same way you constantly meet yourself
No matter how far you run away.

Here, the flickers kick the bucket.
True darkness devours your eyes.

Care to immerse yourself?

Your sight can't adjust –
All light has left.
There are no outlines to capture,
No shapes in the dark.

However, if you stare long enough,
You can see little tendrils of light even here.
They're falling down, past your ankles

There's a river below you.
That's where the light comes from.
Flowing, moving

You can hear the rumbling
as you sit above it.

Wherever you are,
whenever you close your second eyelid,
It will always be there.
